Overview

  • A 19-member delegation from AMUCO, COCOMI and FOCS held its first joint meeting with senior MHA advisers A K Mishra and Rajesh Kamble in New Delhi on June 30.
  • Delegates emphasized that Manipur’s territorial integrity must be preserved with no carve-out for a separate hill administration.
  • They called for a phased, time-bound roadmap to return thousands of internally displaced persons to their original homes.
  • Reopening National Highway-2 and National Highway-37 was deemed essential to restore free movement across Meitei and Kuki-Zo areas.
  • The group also pressed for urgent security measures for farmers in buffer zones and the implementation of an NRC or similar mechanism to curb illegal immigration.
