Overview

• On June 19, suspected Kuki militants opened fire from surrounding hills in Phubala village, Bishnupur district, injuring Meitei farmer Ningthoujam Biren in the left arm.
• During the ensuing search operation in Langchingmanbi and Heichanglok villages, crossfire between security forces and armed miscreants killed Hoikholhing Haokip, wife of the Langchingmanbi village chief.
• Kuki-Zo groups, led by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum, enforced indefinite shutdowns in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi to demand accountability and a buffer zone review.
