Overview

• Manifesta 17 will take place in Coimbra, Portugal, in 2028, marking the biennial’s first edition in the country.
• The edition will be organized in partnership with Anozero – Biennial of Contemporary Art, the Municipality of Coimbra and the University of Coimbra.
• The Portuguese Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Tourism are official project partners supporting the event.
• Director Hedwig Fijen described the collaboration as a new phase of cross-cultural engagement that may shape future European art biennials.
• Planning will draw on mixed funding from local partners, the Manifesta Foundation and external sources including EU projects and private institutions.
