• On July 9, Manoj Kumar Mohanty allegedly lured his estranged wife and her partner Prashant Nath to a canal bank in Malahat village under the pretext of reconciliation before slitting her throat and mutilating his partner’s genitals
• Victim statements and local reports indicate that Mohanty’s brother and first cousin helped tie up the couple prior to the attack, and the woman claims her in-laws orchestrated the ambush
• Both victims were rescued by nearby residents and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jajpur, where they remain in critical condition
