Overview
- Isaiah Jamon Andrews, 20, was released from the Martinez Detention Facility on Oct. 22 despite local charges, a Sacramento juvenile warrant and an out-of-state homicide warrant.
- Authorities say Andrews is the suspect in the Oct. 15 fatal shooting of 20-year-old Theodore Wheeler in a Seattle hotel parking lot and was arrested in California on Oct. 18 after a vehicle pursuit.
- He was being held in California awaiting extradition to King County and appeared in Contra Costa County Superior Court on Oct. 20, with court records indicating he was to be held without bail.
- After jail staff discovered the error, deputies searched the area, notified local agencies and enlisted the U.S. Marshals Service, which is now leading an ongoing search with partners.
- The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office has not explained how the release occurred and announced the mistake on Oct. 27; officials are asking for tips via 925-646-2441, tips@so.cccounty.us or 866-846-3592.
