Overview
- WA Police say four masked men carried out linked home invasions across Butler and Ocean Reef between about 4:30am and 6:00am on Wednesday.
- The intruders were armed with machetes; a 31-year-old Ocean Reef woman was forced into a bedroom and struck with the handle of a blade, received superficial injuries, and has been discharged from hospital.
- Two cars remain outstanding: a white Toyota Corolla with WA registration 1HOK709 and a blue BMW 4 Series coupe with WA registration 1FBM178, with police warning the public not to approach either vehicle.
- Rapid Apprehension Squad detectives, including Detective Constable Ciara Lydiate, are leading the investigation and describe the incidents as serious and random while appealing for information via Crime Stoppers.
- CCTV captured three intruders approaching another Ocean Reef home minutes earlier before fleeing, as residents and a local MP call for stronger security measures such as expanded camera coverage.
