Manhunt Continues for Former Soldier Accused of Killing His Three Daughters

Law enforcement agencies are scouring Washington’s Kittitas County near the Cascade Mountains with a $20,000 reward for information.

This undated photo provided by the Wenatchee Police Department shows Travis Caleb Decker, who the police are asking the public for help in locating, the Washington state father who is wanted for murder after his three young daughters were reported missing and then found dead.

Overview

  • Travis Decker, 32, faces three counts of first-degree murder and one count of kidnapping after authorities say he killed his daughters—Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5—during a court-ordered visit on May 30.
  • Investigators discovered the girls’ bodies near Rock Island Campground on June 2, finding plastic bags over their heads, zip ties on their wrists and determining asphyxiation as the cause of death.
  • The multi-agency search has mobilized the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, Washington National Guard, FBI and U.S. Marshals across rugged terrain in the Cascade region.
  • Officials have released photos showing Decker wearing a light shirt and dark shorts and described him as 5 feet 8 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes, urging residents to report any sightings.
  • Court documents reveal Decker researched moving to Canada, and advocates say gaps in veterans’ mental health services may have contributed to the tragedy.
