Manchester Driver Charged After Factory Lane Rollover That Wrecked Lamppost

  • Greater Manchester Police named Matthew Thomas, 43, and charged him with dangerous driving, driving over the alcohol limit, having no licence and no insurance.
  • He was bailed to appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates' Court on 9 December.
  • Reported CCTV shows a white Kia travelling at high speed before striking a kerb on Factory Lane, toppling a lamppost and flipping onto its roof.
  • Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended around 5:15pm and made the area safe, and the car’s two occupants avoided serious injury.
  • A nearby garage owner said two customer vehicles were likely write-offs and an electrical panel was torn out, and DfT data records seven crashes on the road from 2013 to 2023.
