Overview
- Terminal 2’s departure lounge reopened on July 28 with six new outlets including LEGO, Rituals, Pandora, Starbucks, Joe & The Juice and Upper Crust.
- The opening marks the latest milestone in a ten-year, £1.3 billion transformation that has already doubled the terminal’s footprint and will more than double its capacity by late 2025.
- The project enters its final phase with the original Terminal 2 building undergoing modernisation and the creation of a connecting passageway crowned by a chandelier homage to the 1980s Terminal 1 design.
- Further branded outlets including Chanel, Grindsmith by WH Smith, a Fever Tree cocktail bar and the Great Northern Market food court are scheduled to open before year-end.
- Upon completion, Terminal 2 will feature 13 new flexible aircraft stands and boarding gates, handle over 70 percent of airport passengers and prompt the closure of Terminal 1.
