- Florida’s Gaming Control Commission, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations said the coordinated “Operation Silent Spin” dismantled several Bradenton-area arcade storefronts and led to criminal charges and immigration detainers.
- Investigators tallied 265 illegal machines and roughly $120,000 in cash across three sites, with the largest take at Spin City Arcade.
- Seizures by location included 155 machines and $78,483 from Spin City Arcade, 61 machines and about $24,157 from an unnamed arcade, and 49 machines and approximately $18,157 from Mike’s Arcade.
- Officials said the probe began after an April shooting at an illegal gambling house where a customer was shot multiple times, underscoring how cash-heavy, low-security arcades can draw weapons, drugs, trafficking, and schemes that target patrons.
- The FGCC is seeking new funding to stand up additional enforcement squads, including a unit dedicated to southwest Florida, as recent crackdowns in the region have already removed hundreds of machines in separate cases.
