Man Wins £5,000 Settlement After Faulty Razor Causes Severe Shaving Injuries

Nick Silverthorn sued Wilkinson Sword after a defective blade left him with scars, nightmares, and weeks of recovery.

Nick Silverthorn, a 48-year-old landscape gardener from London, suffered deep cuts while using a £2.50 Men Advance 3 razor purchased from Sainsbury’s in December 2023.
The razor, manufactured by Wilkinson Sword, was found to have a detached blade, which caused significant injuries to both of Silverthorn's cheeks during his shave.
Silverthorn experienced prolonged bleeding, scars that took weeks to heal, and recurring nightmares linked to past trauma involving blood and medical procedures.
He preserved the razor, packaging, and receipt as evidence and filed a legal claim through product liability specialists, leading to an out-of-court settlement.
Wilkinson Sword agreed to pay £5,000 in compensation without admitting liability after conducting tests on the defective razor.
