Man Who Stormed Capitol While on Bail for Attempted Murder Gets Over 3 Years for Riot

Matthew Beddingfield was sentenced to over 3 years for assaulting police at the Capitol riot while on pretrial release for shooting a teen.
Beddingfield traveled with his father to D.C. for the Trump rally and attacked officers outside the Capitol with a flagpole.
Prior to the riot, Beddingfield had taken an Alford plea for shooting a Hispanic teen and received probation.
FBI agents found guns, ammo, and evidence of white supremacist beliefs in Beddingfield's home after identifying him through facial recognition.
Despite extremist ties, his sentence was based solely on his violent conduct during the riot, in which over 1,000 have been arrested.
