Man Wanted for 1984 Murder Arrested After 39 Years on the Run Posing as California Official

A 65-year-old man wanted for murder in Florida since 1984 was arrested in California where he had been living under an alias and serving as a local water board president.
Donald Santini was accused of killing Cynthia Wood in 1984 and appeared on America's Most Wanted multiple times before being arrested in San Diego County.
Santini had been using the name Wellman Simmonds and frequently changed locations to avoid capture for nearly 40 years.
Wood's body was found in a ditch days after she disappeared, and Santini's fingerprints were on her body, leading police to name him as the prime suspect.
Santini was extradited to Florida to face charges for Wood's murder as well as previous convictions for rape and robbery.
