Police in Kenya have discovered the body of a man suspected to have been mauled by a lion while riding his motorcycle near the Shimba Hills National Reserve.
The discovery was made after locals reported an abandoned motorcycle, with lion paw prints leading from the vehicle to a thicket where the man's remains were found.
The man, as of yet unidentified, was taken to Kwale sub-county hospital mortuary for identification and postmortem.
Lions in Kenya, once in decline and listed as endangered, have seen their numbers rise from an estimated 2,000 in 2010 to 2,489 in a recent survey.
Conflicts between humans and lions have been increasing, with herders reporting attacks on their livestock.
