Overview

• Officers were called to The Stanley Arms on Roby Road at about 12.20am on Saturday after a man injured at a Colin Close 18th birthday party ran in seeking help, according to witnesses.
• Merseyside Police described the injury as potentially life-changing and said a bladed weapon was used in the assault.
• The victim is being treated in hospital in a serious but stable condition, and a 17-year-old girl suffered a minor hand injury.
• An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of s18 grievous bodily harm with intent and s18 wounding with intent and remains in custody.
• Forensic teams worked at the house and the pub over the weekend as police appealed for witness accounts, CCTV or other footage.
