Police reports indicate the shooting followed a dispute involving the victim and three men outside a hotel, allegedly over financial matters such as debts or counterfeit money.
The victim attempted to flee by entering the Uber vehicle, but the car was stopped at a red light, allowing the suspects to catch up and fire multiple shots through the side window.
The suspects, who fled the scene on foot, remain unidentified and at large as authorities continue their investigation into the case, classified as manslaughter.
The victim was known to police for previous offenses, including fraud, illegal residency, and counterfeiting, and was carrying a fake French passport at the time of his death.
