Man Seriously Injured as B1287 Near Seaham Hall Closes After Single-Vehicle Crash

Specialist ambulance teams supported by the Great North Air Ambulance transferred the patient to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary with a doctor on board.

  • Emergency services were called shortly before 1pm on January 19 to a one-vehicle collision on the B1287 near Seaham Hall Hotel in Seaham.
  • Durham Police closed the stretch between Seaham Hall Hotel and the A1018 roundabout and asked motorists to use alternative routes.
  • North East Ambulance Service deployed a double-crewed ambulance, a clinical team leader and a Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle.
  • The Great North Air Ambulance critical care team was activated at 1:19pm, arrived by rapid response car at about 1:45pm and accompanied the patient.
  • A man sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with a doctor on board, with slow traffic reported nearby.
