Man Sentenced to Life for Murdering Toddler and Concealing Body in Public

Scott Jeff was convicted of murdering two-year-old Isabella Wheildon following weeks of abuse, while her mother, Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell, was jailed for allowing the abuse to occur.

Scott Jeff, 24, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 26 years for the murder of two-year-old Isabella Wheildon after a campaign of violence and abuse in June 2023.
Isabella's mother, Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing or allowing her daughter's death and for child cruelty charges.
The court heard that Isabella suffered severe injuries, including a shattered pelvis caused by kicking or stamping, and traces of cocaine and cannabis were found in her system.
After Isabella's death, Jeff and Gleason-Mitchell wheeled her body around Ipswich in a buggy for three days, visiting shops, a pub, and a service station before leaving her body in a locked bathroom at a temporary housing unit.
Judge Neil Garnham described Jeff's actions as a 'cruel campaign of violence and abuse' and called Gleason-Mitchell 'weak and spineless' for prioritizing her relationship with Jeff over protecting her daughter.
