Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Deadly Amtrak Drug Bust

Devonte Okeith Mathis attempted to smuggle drugs aboard an Amtrak train in Arizona.
Mathis pleaded guilty to drug charges and firearm offenses relating to the incident.
During a search of the train, Mathis' accomplice opened fire, killing a DEA agent and injuring two others.
Mathis admitted knowing his accomplice was armed and likely to shoot.
The shootout occurred in October 2021 when agents were checking an Amtrak train stopped in Tucson, Arizona for contraband.
