Man Rescued After 10th-Floor Fall Leaves Him Trapped on 8th-Floor Grille in Surat

Fire officials credit coordinated tactics for saving the 57-year-old.

Overview

  • The incident occurred around 8 a.m. at the Times Galaxy building in the Jahangirabad/Jahangirpura area when the man slipped from his 10th-floor flat.
  • His leg became lodged in an exterior window grille at the 8th-floor level, leaving him suspended for nearly an hour.
  • Teams from the Jahangirpura, Palanpur and Adajan fire stations executed a double-protection plan with ropes and safety belts while laying a safety net below.
  • Rescuers used hydraulic cutters to free his trapped leg and pulled him to safety, with the operation led on site by Deputy Chief Fire Officer S. D. Dhobi.
  • He was taken to Gurukrupa Hospital where doctors reported his condition as stable, and authorities said a follow-up investigation will review how the fall occurred and assess building safety measures.
