Overview

• Just after 7 p.m. on August 6, an unidentified gunman opened fire in the emergency department of MultiCare Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma.
• A male victim died at the scene and a 21-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet and is in stable condition.
• Tacoma police have classified the incident as a targeted homicide and stress it is not an active shooter event.
• MultiCare Allenmore has restricted access and barred visitors but its emergency department remains open for walk-in patients under lockdown protocols.
• Authorities have not yet apprehended the suspect and ask anyone with information to contact the Tacoma Police Department’s homicide unit.
