Overview
- A man in his 20s was shot at about 10pm on June 27 while sitting in a parked car on Hickeys Lane in Penrith and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
- Paramedics treated his gunshot wound at the scene before he was taken to hospital for further care.
- Just after 10.15pm Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished a vehicle fire on Kindlebark Close in Claremont Meadows.
- Officers from Nepean Police Area Command have established separate crime scenes at both locations and detectives are examining possible links between the shooting and the fire.
- The incident is the latest in an ongoing series of nighttime shootings followed by car fires across western Sydney suburbs since late 2024.
