Overview
- The fire broke out at around 7:34 pm on August 4 on the external roof fascia of the empty Bournemouth International Centre.
- Three crews from Springbourne, Westbourne and Redhill Park along with an aerial ladder platform from Westbourne extinguished the main blaze by 8:48 pm.
- Nearby residents were instructed to close their doors and windows and a police cordon was set up to keep the area clear for emergency operations.
- Police have arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of arson following inquiries that treated the fire as suspicious.
- Firefighters remained on site into the early hours of August 5 to dampen down hotspots while investigators work to determine the cause of the fire.
