Overview
- The suspect, identified as Prashant Mohan of Bihar, checked into a five-star hotel on October 30 and tried to reach Chief Minister Manik Saha on October 31.
- He claimed to be an additional commissioner in the finance ministry and flashed counterfeit IRS and IAS IDs before security stopped him outside the CM’s suite.
- As officers moved to detain him, he pretended to suffer a heart attack; doctors at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute found him fit and he was arrested.
- Police recovered fake identity cards, visiting cards, Aadhaar and PAN cards, a phone, cash and luggage, and noted he arrived in a car with red-blue beacons as his driver fled.
- Investigators say he admitted to using fabricated identities to meet politicians for photographs, he has been sent to jail, and assistance has been sought from Delhi and Bihar police to examine his background and possible accomplices.
