Man Gets 15 Years to Life for Murder of Ex as Search for Her Body Continues

Investigators are asking the public for tips to locate Alexis Guadarrama Orozco’s remains.

Overview

  • A Chula Vista jury convicted 48-year-old Eduardo Magana of second-degree murder in November, and a judge on Tuesday imposed a 15-years-to-life sentence.
  • Superior Court Judge Timothy Walsh called Magana’s actions “horrific, calculated, (and) perverse” and imposed the maximum term allowed.
  • Prosecutors say Alexis Berenice Guadarrama Orozco, 33, met Magana at the Star Motel in Otay Mesa on July 15, and all contact from her stopped the next day.
  • Surveillance captured Magana loading a large, heavy object into his car trunk early July 16; he was arrested three days later in Bell Gardens.
  • Authorities say her remains are believed to be in Southern California, and the DA and San Diego police urge tips to the SDPD Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
