Man Fatally Shot by Police Outside NSW Hospital After Alleged Gun Incident

Police confronted the man in a hospital car park after reports of gunfire in a nearby town, leading to a fatal shooting.

Police were called to Rouse Street in Wingham following reports of a man firing shots into the air around 12:30 PM.
The man was later located in the car park of Manning Base Hospital in Taree, approximately 13 kilometers away.
According to police, the man pointed a gun at officers, prompting them to open fire, fatally wounding him.
Officers and paramedics provided immediate medical assistance, but the man, believed to be in his 30s, died shortly after being taken into the hospital.
A critical incident investigation by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad and an independent review have been launched to examine the circumstances of the shooting.
