Man Dies in Dublin Homeless Hostel Explosion

Investigation Underway as Controlled Explosion Carried Out by Irish Army’s EOD Unit

A man has died following an explosion at a homeless hostel in Dublin, which was confined to one room.
The explosion occurred at a Support Temporary Accommodation building operated by Depaul Ireland on Little Britain Street.
Emergency services, including the Irish army’s explosives ordnance disposal (EOD) unit, attended the scene and a controlled explosion was carried out as part of the post-blast analysis.
No other injuries have been reported and residents of the building have been evacuated, with Depaul working to ensure nobody would be left without accommodation.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the Garda Technical Bureau, with a post-mortem examination due to be carried out by the State Pathologist.
