Man Dies and Toddler Critically Injured in Central Victoria House Fire

A fire in Maryborough claimed the life of one man and left a two-year-old in critical condition, with authorities investigating the cause.

The fire broke out Thursday morning at a single-storey home on Barr Street in Maryborough, about 60 kilometers north of Ballarat.
A man, who has not yet been identified, was found deceased at the scene.
A two-year-old child was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in critical condition, while a three-year-old child and two women sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
One of the injured women, in her 70s, was taken to Maryborough Public Hospital for treatment.
Victoria Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the fire, with an arson chemist expected to examine the site.
