- Essex Police said ambulance crews contacted them shortly before 2.10pm on Thursday, July 30, after a man got into difficulty in the sea off The Esplanade and was brought ashore before being pronounced dead.
- An Essex and Herts air ambulance, HM Coastguard rescue teams from Clacton, Walton and Holbrook, local lifeguards, the East of England Ambulance Service and police all attended the scene.
