Overview

• Officers responded around 3:09 p.m. Wednesday to the 500 block of Islamic Way in Upton and found a 49-year-old man with an upper-body gunshot wound.
• The victim was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition, according to police.
• A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene, and homicide detectives are leading the investigation because of the severity of the injuries.
• Authorities have not said whether the victim or the detained individual is connected to Masjid Ul Haqq, which is among Baltimore’s oldest mosques.
