Overview
- Fire was reported shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday at a residence at 98 Leeman Arm Road in Palermo.
- Arriving crews found the home fully engulfed and located a severely burned man in the roadway who had escaped.
- The injured man was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta and later flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he is in critical condition.
- He told firefighters another person was inside the home, and search and recovery operations for that individual are ongoing.
- Palermo firefighters received mutual aid from neighboring departments and area ambulance services, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
