Man Charged With Capital Murder in Deadly Shooting at Texas Tribal Casino After Multi-County Pursuit

Kickapoo Tribal Police are leading a multi-agency investigation as the casino remains closed and authorities say a motive has not been established.

Overview

  • Suspect Keryan Jones, 34, of San Antonio, is in Maverick County custody on two capital murder counts and five aggravated-assault charges with total bond set at $4.5 million.
  • Two people were killed — retired U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent Marcus Antley and Alicia Danielle Sanchez — and five others were injured.
  • Law enforcement used license-plate recognition to track a black Nissan Frontier; DPS troopers fired on and partially disabled the vehicle before a PIT maneuver and Taser ended the chase, and a weapon was recovered.
  • Sheriff Tom Schmerber said the gunman had been inside the casino, went to his car, then returned and opened fire near the entrance, with no motive determined.
  • University Health in San Antonio treated two victims, releasing a 22-year-old woman and listing a 59-year-old woman in fair condition, as the casino stays closed during the ongoing probe.
