Man Charged With Attempted Murder Held After Unprovoked Harlem Subway Stabbing

  • On July 14 at around 6:10 a.m., 20-year-old Geovalny Alcantara allegedly stabbed a sleeping 56-year-old passenger at least three times in the head aboard a southbound No. 1 train near Harlem’s 145th Street station
  • Officers from Transit District 3 intervened immediately, disarming Alcantara and taking him into custody on the train
  • The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital and remains in stable condition with puncture wounds to the back of his head
