- Chicago police identified the suspect as Isaiah Martinez and announced multiple felony counts, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, armed violence, aggravated battery to a peace officer, unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felon, and aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle.
- Prosecutors said a sergeant spotted a stolen 2018 Jeep at a McDonald’s drive-thru, the driver rammed a marked squad car, then fired repeatedly from the moving vehicle, striking a police car during the chase.
- Investigators recovered a .45-caliber pistol from the Jeep with its slide locked back and found nine spent shell casings, as well as bullet damage to a garden apartment and a parked car along Montrose Avenue.
- No injuries were reported and officers did not return fire; the driver fled on foot after a second crash and was taken into custody in the 6100-block of West Eastwood Avenue where a firearm was recovered.
- A judge ordered the defendant detained as a public safety risk, and prosecutors noted he was on pretrial electronic monitoring in a separate case at the time of the incident.
