Man Charged with Arson in Massive California Line Fire

Justin Wayne Halstenberg faces nine felony charges for allegedly starting the blaze that has burned over 37,000 acres in San Bernardino County.

The Line Fire, which began on September 5, has led to the evacuation of 65,000 residences and continues to threaten 65,100 structures.
Halstenberg, 34, is accused of attempting to start three fires in Highland, California, with the third evolving into the Line Fire.
He faces charges including aggravated arson, arson causing great bodily injury, and arson of an inhabited structure, all of which could result in a life sentence.
Authorities used automated license-plate readers and video footage to connect Halstenberg to the fires, and he was arrested at his home in Norco.
Firefighters have been battling the blaze for over a week, with containment currently at 21%, and cooler weather is expected to aid firefighting efforts.
