Man Charged with Aiding Iran Spy Daniel Khalife's Prison Escape
Imran Chowdury, 25, is accused of assisting Khalife after his 2023 escape from HMP Wandsworth and will appear in court this week.
- Daniel Khalife, a former British soldier convicted of spying for Iran, escaped from HMP Wandsworth in September 2023 by attaching himself to the underside of a delivery truck.
- Imran Chowdury, 25, of Chingford, northeast London, has been charged with assisting Khalife following his escape.
- Chowdury was arrested in January 2024 and charged in December 2024 under Section 22(2) of the Criminal Justice Act 1961.
- He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face the charges.
- A 25-year-old woman arrested in February 2024 on suspicion of assisting an offender will face no further action.
