Overview

• Daniel Khalife, a former British soldier convicted of spying for Iran, escaped from HMP Wandsworth in September 2023 by attaching himself to the underside of a delivery truck.
• Imran Chowdury, 25, of Chingford, northeast London, has been charged with assisting Khalife following his escape.
• Chowdury was arrested in January 2024 and charged in December 2024 under Section 22(2) of the Criminal Justice Act 1961.
• He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face the charges.
• A 25-year-old woman arrested in February 2024 on suspicion of assisting an offender will face no further action.
