Overview
- Safi Dawood, 22, is charged with the murder of Wayne Broadhurst, two counts of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
- He was remanded in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and is due to appear at the Old Bailey within 48 hours; he was tasered and arrested at the scene and later treated for a medical episode in custody.
- Police and prosecutors say Mr Broadhurst, 49, died at the scene, a 45-year-old man remains in hospital with life-changing injuries and a 14-year-old boy has been discharged.
- The court heard Dawood was not known to Mr Broadhurst but knew the other two alleged victims; prosecutors said the 45-year-old was his landlord, named as Shahzad Farrukh.
- The Home Office said Dawood entered the UK in a lorry in 2020 and was granted leave to remain in 2022, and local officials clarified he has no link to Hillingdon asylum hotels.
