Man Charged Over Lewisham Hit-and-Run That Left Woman Critically Injured

The 38-year-old is set to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday following arrest in Northern Ireland.

Police say a car struck a pedestrian on Southend Lane in Bellingham at 22:13 on 31 October and failed to stop.
The pedestrian, a 65-year-old woman, remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Michael McLaughlin, 38, of Buncrana, County Donegal, was arrested on 7 November on a motorway in Northern Ireland by PSNI officers.
He was escorted to England, interviewed in south London, and charged on 8 November with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop.
McLaughlin remains in custody as the Met’s Serious Collision Investigative Unit continues enquiries and urges witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact 101 quoting 9111/31NOV, with specialist officers supporting the family.
