Overview
- Police say a red Hyundai i30 followed a red Ford Falcon in Conder and an occupant fired shots at about 10pm on Friday, 9 October 2026, seriously injuring a teenage back-seat passenger who was given first aid then taken to hospital.
- Officers established crime scenes in Conder after the shooting and reported seeing a man emerge from a bush on Greaves Place and get into a waiting red Audi, which was later found outside a home in Gordon.
- A 29-year-old man was arrested at the Gordon address and charged with using a firearm to endanger human life; he faced the ACT Magistrates Court and was refused bail.
- Magistrate James Lawton cited the unrecovered firearm and the accused's parole status as reasons to deny bail, and police say the matter will return to court on 4 November 2026.
- ACT Police are continuing to search for the weapon and are urging drivers and residents in Conder and Banks to contact Crime Stoppers with CCTV or witness information about Abrahams Crescent, Beaumaris Street, Tom Roberts Avenue, Box Hill Avenue, Tharwa Drive and Pockett Avenue.
