Overview
- Kristopher Fyffe, 38, was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court and released to supervised release, with a return date set for Nov. 13.
- He is charged with torturing and injuring animals, two counts of menacing, five counts of failure to provide proper food and drink to an impounded animal, two counts of harassment, and a registration violation.
- Prosecutors say witnesses filmed Fyffe on Aug. 23 outside Gwen Ifill Park applying duct tape to a pit bull’s face and legs and that he allegedly waved a knife when confronted.
- NYPD Quality of Life officers stopped him the next day, allegedly finding five pit bulls in kennels covered in feces and urine, with mismatched plates on the van, and seized the dogs.
- The ASPCA says the duct-taped dog is stable and receiving care in Manhattan, the other four were treated by Animal Care Centers of NYC and are being transferred, and a forensic veterinarian said such restraints cause pain and can impede blood flow.
