Overview

• John Mackey, 87, was attacked on May 6 in Manor House after being followed from a Co-op store and robbed of a bag containing cornflakes, a shepherd’s pie, and a newspaper.
• Eyewitnesses reported seeing the victim being punched, kicked, and stamped on as the assailant shouted, 'Give me the bag.'
• Mackey was found unconscious and bleeding in the street at 5:53 PM and later died in the hospital on May 8 from brain bleeding and fractured ribs, confirmed by a post-mortem examination.
• Peter Augustine, 58, was arrested on May 8 and charged with robbery and murder; he is currently remanded in custody.
