Overview
- Police say Rita Berenice Loncharich, 65, was stabbed inside the Legacy Place Barnes & Noble on Dec. 22 and died during surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
- Officers used witness accounts and in-store surveillance to identify a suspect and arrested Antonio Roderick Moore, 40, about 1,500 feet from the store without incident.
- Moore is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, according to jail records, and remains in the Palm Beach County Jail.
- According to a police affidavit, Moore said he had no prior interaction with the victim, described an “internal buildup,” and had been charging his phone in the store after arriving in the area by bus.
- Legacy Place said it is enhancing on-site security and cooperating with investigators, and Barnes & Noble declined to comment on the ongoing case.
