- David Gallagher, 25, appeared before Cork District Court by video link and was remanded in custody until 10 December for DPP directions by Judge Mark O’Connell.
- He is charged with the murder of his mother, 59-year-old Stella Gallagher, at Shrewsbury Downs on 17 November and with assault causing harm to his father, Brian.
- Sgt Gearoid Davis sought the further remand, and Garda evidence previously detailed the arrest, charge and caution, with no reply when charges were put, according to Dt Sgt Niall Hayes.
- A judge earlier ordered urgent medical and psychiatric evaluation for the accused in prison and directed that he receive appropriate medical care while in custody.
- Hundreds attended Stella Gallagher’s funeral in Ballinlough on 25 November, where her husband, recently discharged from hospital, helped carry her coffin before burial in Blackrock.
