Man Charged in Attempted Murder of Northern Ireland Police Officer

A 44-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell in Northern Ireland.
The attack, claimed by the New IRA, occurred as Caldwell was with his son at a sports complex in Omagh.
Caldwell, who had investigated high-profile cases, suffered life-changing injuries and spent weeks in intensive care.
The man arrested faces multiple charges, including directing terrorist activities and preparing terrorist acts.
A dozen people had previously been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted killing.
