Man Charged for Commonwealth Avenue Attack, Injuring Seven

A 20-year-old man, Joseph Lau Jin Hua, was charged with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon after attacking seven people in Commonwealth Avenue.
The attack involved a knife, a chopper, and bare hands, resulting in minor injuries to victims including a 76-year-old man and a six-year-old girl.
Lau was remanded for medical examination and will return to court on February 19; there were no indications the incident was an act of terror.
Five members of the public, including Mr. Mok Kwong Heng, Mr. Gangatharan Saravanan, and Mr. Emmanuel Ee, were awarded for their bravery in subduing the attacker.
The police commended the public's efforts in detaining Lau until officers arrived, highlighting the community's role in ensuring safety.
