Overview
- Officers were called to Merrylands train station about 1:45pm after a reported verbal altercation on a carriage preceded the violence.
- Police allege the 21-year-old was stabbed in the chest and arm inside the carriage before the attacker stabbed a 23-year-old in the arm on the platform.
- Paramedics treated both men at the station and transported them to hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.
- Trains on the T5 Cumberland line were halted about 2pm for a police operation and services resumed roughly an hour later.
- A 34-year-old man was arrested about 3pm at a Woodville Rd address in Guildford and charged with reckless wounding and aggravated assault with intent to rob.
