Man Charged After Hit-and-Run Injures Girl and Kills Horse in Cornwall

The 61-year-old suspect faces multiple driving-related charges following the collision that left an eight-year-old hospitalized and a horse euthanized.

• The incident occurred on January 12, 2025, in Higher Treween, Altarnun, near Launceston, Cornwall, involving a white Ford Transit van and a horse.
• An eight-year-old girl riding the horse was seriously injured and airlifted to the hospital; she has since been discharged.
• A 12-year-old leading the horse was unharmed, but the horse was euthanized by vets at the scene due to its injuries.
• Christopher Rogers, 61, from Bolventor, Launceston, has been charged with multiple offenses, including driving without due care, driving while disqualified, and failing to stop after an accident.
• Rogers has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear before Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on February 7, 2025.
