Man Charged After Explosive Items Found in Fallowfield

GMP say the charge follows a June search that triggered an EOD response, with nearby homes temporarily evacuated.

  • An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended as a precaution and nearby homes were evacuated, but residents have since been allowed to return.
  • Greater Manchester Police arrested a man in his 20s at Edward Sutcliffe Close on Tuesday June 9 and have charged him with three counts of possession of an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose.
  • The charged man, named by police as Miguel Sanchez and described as 22, has been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court; GMP say they do not believe there is a wider threat.
  • Officers are keeping enhanced patrols in the area and ask anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or mobile footage to contact GMP quoting log number 2502 of 09/06/26 or to give information anonymously to Crimestoppers.
