Man Charged After Bystander Stabbed During Citizen’s Arrest in Melbourne CBD

Victoria Police have stepped up CBD patrols after the October 2 Little Bourke Street stabbing.

  • He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tonight after bystanders detained him near Lonsdale and Elizabeth streets.
  • Officers allege he ran through a Lonsdale Street car park about 6am with a knife before two tradies chased and restrained him.
  • A 41-year-old Maddingley man was stabbed in the lower body and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while a 35-year-old Sanctuary Lakes man was unhurt.
  • Police say the investigation continues, and PORT units have increased patrols across the CBD following last month’s attack.
