  • Around 2 a.m. on Sunday, a white Acura SUV rear-ended a gray Toyota RAV4 in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near University Avenue in East Palo Alto, triggering a chain-reaction collision.
  • A white Subaru then struck the disabled Toyota before crashing into the center median, and a gray BMW sedan subsequently collided with wreckage.
  • The female driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene while the Toyota driver and passenger sustained major injuries and the drivers of the Acura and BMW suffered minor injuries.
  • CHP arrested the Acura driver on suspicion of DUI resulting in injuries to others.
